Homework
Homework is an effective way of supporting and promoting children's learning. It offers opportunities to consolidate and reinforce skills and understanding and for extending work carried out in school, primarily by prompting discussion focused on what is being learnt at school between children and parents.
From the child's entry into school, reading books are sent home as part of the school's reading programme. Parents are asked to listen to their child (ren) read throughout their primary life.
As children move through the school, homework will include tasks designed to develop and consolidate work done at school as well as reading.
With all their homework tasks, children will need the support of their parents to gain the full benefit of the learning experience.
A learning letter is sent out to parents each week outlining homework and giving ideas for parents to do that reinforces the week's learning.
